The Gold Plated HTC One

There are a lot of things to be said about smartphones and their various designs. To blinged out versions to gold-plated ones, there is a lot to be said for custom smartphones. Since the iPhone 5S kicked things up a notch with their special champagne gold-colored phone, other smartphone customizers are following suit. Rumor has it that a special edition gold-plated HTC One is in the works.

HTC recently partnered with customizing company Gold Genie to create the exclusive smartphone. There were rumors swirling for quite some time but the Taiwanese manufacturer confirmed their existence today. They designed to commemorate the 18th anniversary of the MOBO awards. The phones come with a MOBO I8 logo etched on the back. There are only five eighteen carat gold phones available. While the actual limited editions cost about $4,400, Gold Genie carries a replica design for about $3,000.
