Secret Operation 610 Flightless Spaceship (Video)
Society has always had a fascination with space and out of this world life forms. Rietveld Landscape and Studio Frank Havermans teamed up to create a very cool art installation. The two put together Secret Operation 610, which is an art exhibit and a mobile research space station. The structure is located on a former Royal Netherlands Air Force military base in Soesterberg.
This structure is an elevated, 4.5 meter tall black vehicle looking design with two wing shaped legs coming off the side. The legs exit a diamond shaped cockpit with caterpillar tracks on the feet. The exterior is made of steel and wood which is spray painted with liquid black rubber. The spaceship seats ten people but not for movement. This structure is for work purposes only. It is a symbol of the Cold War and the history behind the horrible weaponry that accompanied it. The vehicle is housed in an old F15 plane hangar and it can move along an abandoned airstrip, but not for flight.
